Holistic and Remedial Massage

Massage should not only be a relaxing treat, it can also play a valuable role in maintaining your health. The physiological effects of massage can improve circulation, leading to a more efficient delivery of oxygen and nutrients throughout the body. The stimulation of the lymphatic system increases the immune response and helps to detoxify the body.

Massage can be an important part of preventing or treating any stress related illness. The deep relaxation induced by massage affects the nervous system, relieving the effects of stress and anxiety on the body. Stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system induces calmness, allowing the body to feel rejuvenated as well as relaxed.

Massage can also have beneficial effects on

  • the skin
  • muscles and joints
  • the respiratory system
  • the digestive system
  • the endocrine system

I have also completed an Advanced and Deep Tissue Massage course and am integrating that into my practice when appropriate. This can be very effective in releasing chronic muscle tension or after strenuous physical activity. I also offer a full body deep tissue massage which can be beneficial for athletes and those who have very physically demanding jobs.

If you think massage could be helpful for you, feel free to contact me to discuss further. If you are being treated for any condition by your GP, please ask if massage is appropriate for you. Some medical conditions require your GP's consent.
